Hand-entry time dropped from ~1 hr/day to one keypress per reservation

Morning Reservations Builder

Private operations pilot running at the Boston bowling venue where I work. Turns the morning Tripleseat event export into ConquerorX-ready Excel imports, one per reservation, dropping a 2 to 5 minute hand-entry task to a single keypress.

Project Overview

How The Project Came Together.

01

Problem

A personally-built, approved ops prototype that I use at my workplace, Kings Seaport in Boston. It is not Kings software and is not sold as a product; it is a pilot tool that quietly shortens one specific morning task.

02

Approach

Before the tool, each reservation was entered into the ConquerorX lane-management terminal by hand, roughly 2 to 5 minutes per event. In busy season that stacked into about an hour a day of otherwise-productive labor. The builder takes the same Tripleseat export the shift already downloads, filters for definite events on the target date, and emits one ConquerorX-ready Excel 97-2003 file per reservation, matching the import template cell-for-cell.

03

Result

The engineering work behind it is deliberate. The import file contract was decoded from the local ConquerorX install, including the reservation importer DLL string tables, so cells emit real Excel date and time serials and the exact numeric codes the dialog expects. A paired AutoHotkey helper drives ConquerorX's file picker under operator control, because the vendor exposes no batch API. Dummy-data fixtures stay separated from any real event file, and no guest, employee, or payment data is committed to the repository.

Challenges & Learnings

What It Took, And What Came Out Of It.

01

Challenge

Decoding the ConquerorX reservation-import file contract from a local install when no public spec exists.

Learning

A tool that shortens one specific daily task earns adoption faster than a broader system that asks staff to change habits.

02

Challenge

Keeping the workflow operator-controlled on a terminal with no batch API, instead of pushing toward unapproved automation.

Learning

Reverse-engineering a vendor import format is worth it when it unlocks hours of recovered labor each week.

03

Challenge

Staying strictly dummy-data-first so no guest, employee, or payment information touches the repository.

Learning

Private, workplace-level pilots are a legitimate proof surface when the data and permission boundaries are explicit.
